2024 Start Back Dates


Thursday 1st February, Year 9 Students, 9:45am

All new and Year 9 students gather outside the Auditorium at 9:45am ready for our Powhiri. Whanau are encouraged to attend.  

After the Powhiri, Year 9 students will come together and be allocated into their Ngā Toa o Kerehana class. Students will leave the Powhiri with their Kerehana Kaiako. 

Lunch is provided on this day, and every day, at Kelston Girls’ College. 

Year 9 students will also take part in a digital citizenship lesson and will be issued a school device if they have not bought their own. 

The day ends at 3:10pm.

Year 10 Auhia students are asked to meet in the MCC at 9:45am to welcome our new Year 9 students during our Powhiri. After the Powhiri, Year 10 students will be able to go home (approximately 11am). 

Prefects and Stars Leaders are to meet our new Year 9 students outside the Auditorium. Students will have activities in their Ngā Toa o Kerehana class and Whare groups. The day for Prefects and Stars Leaders ends at 3:10pm.

Friday 2nd February, All Students, 9am

Year 9 - Turf area

Year 10 - go to MCC

Year 11 - go to D7 / Modern Learning Area

Years 12 and Year 13 - go to the Gym

Kaiako will lead the learning for the day. 

Students who did not make a selection in 2023 will have been placed in modules. School-owned devices will be issued on this day for Year 10 students only.  School finishes at 1pm.

School ends at 1pm.

Monday 5th February, All Students, 9am

There will be an extended Ngā Toa o Kerehana class on this day. Trimester 1 begins, and students follow their regular timetable but with shortened blocks.

School ends at 3:10pm.

Tuesday 6th February - Waitangi Day

School is closed.

Wednesday 7th February

Regular timetable. School starts at 10am.
