Te Arahanga: Learning Support

Te Arahanga means "The Bridge", symbolising our crucial role in guiding and supporting every learner across their educational journey.

It is the specialised support hub within Kelston Girls' College, ensuring that every ākonga has the tools and personalised assistance required to achieve excellence.

Our goal is to ensure every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to thrive. We work closely with students, whānau, and kaiako to create meaningful, individualised learning pathways that build confidence and address specific needs.

Four Pillars of Specialised Support

Te Arahanga serves as the central point of contact for personalised student assistance, offering tailored expertise across four critical areas:

01 Learning Support

Providing diagnostic assessment and targeted intervention to address specific learning needs and maximise student potential across the curriculum.

02 English Language Learning (ELL)

Offering specialised programmes to support students rapidly developing fluency and confidence in English, enabling their full participation in academic life.

03 Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

Identifying, nurturing, and extending the unique talents and abilities of our gifted students through differentiated learning opportunities and external challenges.

04 Student Well-being and Pastoral Care

Working in partnership with our Hauora Centre and Ngā Toa o Kerehana programme to provide holistic support, ensuring emotional and social barriers to learning are overcome.

Through these specialised services, Te Arahanga is dedicated to ensuring equitable opportunity for every student to succeed and reach their full potential.
