Last week, the Manukau Velodrome was filled with the voices and vibrant colours of our Samoan, Tongan, Filipino, Indian, Fijian, and Tuvaluan groups. Watching our students take the stage was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do here at Kelston. They didn't just perform; they showed exactly who they are and where they come from with incredible grace. Seeing our young women stand so tall, grounded in their own languages and stories was such a highlight for us all.

We are beyond proud to announce that Kelston Girls’ College placed 2nd overall on the Samoan Stage for 2026! A massive congratulations to our leaders and the entire group for these incredible results:

  • 1st Place: Sasa

  • 1st Place: Fa‘aluma - Talina Motufoua

  • 1st Place: Fuataimi - Tauinaola Ofisa-Moli

  • 1st Place: Taupou - Immaculate Fretton

  • 2nd Place: Ulufale

  • 2nd Place: Ulufafo

  • 2nd Place: Mauluulu

  • 2nd Place: Pese o le aso

  • 2nd Place: Taualuga

  • 3rd Place: Togiga

Our Tongan group brought such grace and power to the stage, making history for our school. For the first time since 2004, Kelston Girls' College has placed 1st Overall for the Ma'ulu'ulu! It was a beautiful moment that reflected weeks of dedication and heart from every single student and tutor.

Our Filipino group also had magnificent results, sweeping the Diversity Stage with their stunning performance and taking home several top honours:

  • 1st Place: Overall Diversity Stage Award

  • 1st Place: Asia Continent Award

  • 1st Place: Interpretation of Theme Award

  • 2nd Place: Choreography

Behind every moment onstage are hundreds of hours of practice, early mornings, and late nights. We are so grateful to our tutors, staff, and whānau for the vision, patience, and tireless work to support our girls to shine. We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of our students for carrying the name of Kelston Girls' College with dignity and joy.

The celebration isn’t over yet! Our Kapa Haka group is deep in preparation to take the stage in Week 10. We can't wait to support them as they perform next Monday evening, 30th March, at 5:00 PM at the Due Drop Events Centre.
