Penina Latu Memorial Scholarship 2023
The Scholarship is in memory of Penina Latu who passed away on the 11th May, 2016 after a short illness. Penina was a prefect and a highly respected young woman who lived her life to the highest standard and always tried her best.
This scholarship is open to Year 12 students intending to continue Year 13 at Kelston Girls’ College in 2024. It is intended to cover some of the students’ educational expenses for 2024.There are two scholarships awarded each year. The value of the scholarship is $500 and is credited to the school account of the student in Term 1, 2024.
Applicants should have:
• NCEA Level 1 endorsed with merit or excellence and on track for merit or excellence endorsement at Level 2
• Evidence of Leadership, community involvement and observation of The Kelston Way
• Evidence of excellent attendance and academic attainment from Year 9 to Year 12
A shortlist of candidates will be made from the initial applicants and interviews will be held in the following week at school. The interviewing panel will consist of the Deputy Principal and a New Lynn Rotarian.The recipients will be announced at the Senior Prize Giving on the 1st December 2023.
You may also be expected to attend a meeting of New Lynn Rotary Club, along with a parent or guardian in November this year.Applicants are advised to research the history and work of New Zealand Rotary.
