Zero Waste Winner

Congratulations to Leaders in the Making runner up Lalita Venkataiah. Lalita received the award as part of the Zero Waste Hui and Awards night. The awards night was an opportunity to celebrate the amazing mahi that is happening in Tāmaki Makaurau . The “Leaders in the Making Award” was for rangatahi who are standing up and showing leadership for a zero-waste world. As rangatahi they bring a unique perspective on climate change, taking ownership of their future and for the future of Tāmaki Makaurau.

Lalita has driven the journey towards waste minimization at Kelston Girls’ College. She has deeply held, passionate views about protecting our planet, especially with regards to waste and climate change. She has involved herself in several community programmes and events and has made connections at these that have allowed her to bring the kaupapa from these events back into our school. She is inclusive of others, especially younger students, and has a maturity that helps her to work effectively with adults within the school and from community groups.
