Warm Pacific Greetings to you,
On March 27th six year 13 students attended the PILOT programme at Auckland International School (AIS) in Mt Albert. Students from around Auckland attended and all of them were there because they have demonstrated leadership potential. The messages of the day were around planning for the future and working to ensure success in their endeavours after school.
Anonymouz, who is a successful music and video producer taught the students to follow their interests and activate their ideas. He told the story of how his work and life changed for the better once he started to learn his mother tongue – Samoan – and look to his own culture for inspiration for his art.
The students also attended workshops on financial literacy and transferable skills and enjoyed a delicious lunch while listening to impromptu singing and performances from the other students.
Our girls demonstrated The Kelston Way in all their actions, particularly Cristina Ah Van, who was asked to thank the guest speaker and spoke beautifully with no time to prepare. Patricia So’oa’emalelagi also voluntarily stood to express thanks on behalf of Kelston Girls College at the end of the day. Overall, it was clear that our girls are Pacific Island Leaders of TODAY AND TOMORROW.
